First Announcement

The 18th Czech & Slovak International Number Theory Conference will take place in Congress Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Smolenice, Slovak Republic.

The conference will cover the broad spectrum of topics of elementary, analytical and algebraic number theory and its applications.

Program.
The conference will begin on Monday, August 27 and will last till Friday, August 31. One afternoon (depending on the weather) is supposed to be free for those willing to make a trip to the mountains.

Expected arrival of participants is August 26, 2007, in the afternoon. The Conference will be closed on Friday, before lunch. It is possible to stay in Smolenice up to Saturday.

We plan the sessions in the morning (9:00 -- 12:00) and in the afternoon from 15:00 till 18:00 (16:00 -- 19:00) with 45 minutes lectures or 20 minutes contributed talks. The program will be finalized during the conference according to the time possibilities and lecturers requirements.

Extended abstracts.
We plan to print the abstracts of talks and lectures (up to one page per talk) in advance. If you want to make your abstract available to the participants of the conference, send it before June 15, 2007, please.

Registration fee.
Registration fee is 3500 Slovak crowns, which is 105 EUR or 143 USD now. There is no registration fee for accompanying persons. The registration fee covers the costs of the conference including the proceedings of the conference. Please pay by wire transfer, and please do not forget to pay the transfer fee as well. More precisely below.

Board and lodging.
We have booked a block of rooms in the Smolenice Castle. Since the conference will taken place in a castle the available rooms are nonstandard, and so the rooms differs as regards the number of beds, equipment and so prices vary from 30 up to 100 EUR daily.
The rooms will be given to participants on the first come first serve basis. Accompanying persons are heartily welcome, and there is no registration fee for them.
The deadline for booking is June 30, 2007. After this date we have to release all unbooked rooms, if any.
Prices for the rooms are 900 SKK per person in single, 900 SKK per person in double (1800 SKK--double room), 700 SKK per person in triple room (or 2100 SKK per triple room), 2600 SKK apartament (twin). Price for meal is 400 SKK per day. Participants are supposed to have 5 days, other number is also possible.

Venue.

Smolenice is a village in the west of Slovakia, located about 60 km from the capital city Bratislava in north-east direction. The region is famous for its food and good red wine. Congress Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is in the Smolenice castle which towers above the village of Smolenice on the eastern footfills of Small Carpatian (Malé Karpaty).

How to get there.
It also possible to fly to Vienna or Bratislava, or to take the train directly to Bratislava. Between Vienna and Bratislava (distance 60 km) there is good coach or train connection. Coach connection is directly from the Vienna airport. Timetable of coaches from Vienna to Bratislava (through Vienna airport at Schwechat): Postbus or Vienna - Bratislava, etc.
The Center can be reached from Bratislava by bus, car or taxi. But taxi is expensive. The timetable of buses from Bratislava to Smolenice is possible to find here.
You can use taxi in Bratislava. All official cabs in Bratislava have a yellow light on the roof with a sign TAXI. There are two types of cabs in Bratislava. The first comprises cabs organized in taxi companies; the others are independent cab drivers. The former ones have a fixed price per km, the price varies with individual companies, most of them from 25 to 50 Sk per km. Price upon telephone call is half from the case tto take taxi on the street. Each of these cabs has a 5-digit phone number on its door, the first two digits being 16. The independent cab drivers do not have any phone number on the door of their cars and they are allowed to charge customers any amount per km and might charge much higher fare than organized cabs.

We propose to participants to pay by bank transfer: registration fee 3500 SKK plus 2000 SKK (or 400 SKK x number of days) for meal plus 3500 SKK (or 700 SKK as base payment for accomodation per day x number of days), i.e 9000 SKK together. The difference in the payment for accomodation will be paid cash during the registration.


We recommend to make payment, esspecially for meal, solely by bank transfer to Slovak participants. Invoice is possible to send upon request.
